Edge stability analysis of high βp plasmas
نویسنده
چکیده
An MHD stability analysis of the edge plasma shows that in highly triangular plasmas, the increasing global βp has a stabilizing effect on the low-n instabilities that trigger edge localized modes (ELMs). The improved stability allows the access of higher edge pressure gradients before the ELM is triggered. At the same time, the edge plasma moves closer to the high-n ballooning mode stability boundary. The stability changes can explain why the high value of βp helps to access smaller ELMs. (Some figures in this article are in colour only in the electronic version)

s of publications 1-5: 1. An ELMy ASDEX Upgrade plasma equilibrium is reconstructed taking into accountthe bootstrap current. A high-n ballooning mode stability analysisof the equilibria revealed that,...
متن کامل1 EX / P 3 - 3 Correlation between the edge and the internal transport barriers in JT - 60 U
For understanding of the physics processes determining the radial profiles of the plasma pressure in the advanced tokamak plasmas, correlation between the edge and the internal transport barriers (ETB and ITB) has been studied. We fond that the edge pedestal beta, βp-ped, increases almost linearly with the total βp over a wide range of the plasma current for the type I ELMing H-mode, and the de...

We consider a new type of integrable coupled nonlinear Schrodinger (CNLS)equations proposed by our self [submitted to Phys. Plasmas (2011)]. The explicitform of soliton solutions are derived using the Hirota's bilinear method. We show that the parameters in the CNLS equations only determine the regionsfor the existence of bright and dark soliton solutions. Finally, throughthe linear stability an...
متن کاملDevelopment of Reversed Shear Plasmas with Large Bootstrap Current Fraction towards Reactor Relevant Regime in JT-60U
Abstract. This paper reports the development of reversed magnetic shear (RS) plasmas with a large bootstrap current fraction (fBS) towards reactor relevant regime, especially lower q95 regime. By utilizing large volume configuration close to the conductive wall for wall stabilization, the beta limit of RS plasmas is significantly improved. As a result, high confinement RS plasmas with large fBS...

A new original code for solving the 3-D relativistic and bounce-averaged electron drift kinetic equation is presented. It designed for the current drive problem in tokamak with an arbitrary magnetic equilibrium. This tool allows self-consistent calculations of the bootstrap current in presence of other external current sources. RF current drive for arbitrary type of waves may be used. Several m...
